Algerian tourists are expected in Tunisia from July 20

Algerian tourists are expected in Tunisia from July 20, said vice-president of the Tunisian Federation of Hotel Industry Narjes Bouasker.

The number of enquiries made by Algerian travel agencies on the Tunisian destination has increased after the announcement to open the Algerian-Tunisian land borders by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

“This decision is an important step towards the relaunch of the tourist season,” the same source noted, adding that the regions of Cap Bon and Hammamet are ready to welcome Algerian tourists who remain “attracted to this region.”

Algeria’s Tebboune, on July 5, affirmed taking a joint decision with President Kais Saied to open land borders as of July 15, after having been closed since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tunisia has welcomed more than 2,102,321 tourists of different nationalities until June 30, or a 104% increase compared to the same period of 2021, according to Director-General of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT) Nizar Slimane.

About 4,750,000 tourists are expected in 2022, i.e. over a 100% increase compared to the previous year.
