IMF confirms its readiness to support reforms in Tunisia

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has confirmed its readiness to support reform in Tunisia, according to the Italian News Agency (NOVA)

The IMF spokesman stated that the fund remains an “important partner” for Tunisia.

The spokesman made this statement after Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani was compelled to cancel his meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristiana Georgieva, which was originally scheduled for today, due to the need to return to Italy following the death of Silvio Berlusconi.

“our discussion with Tunisia are ongoing, and the fund is prepared to support the country on the path of economic reform,” he stated.

During a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Tajani reiterated the importance of the Tunisian file for Italian foreign policy and the stability of the Mediterranean Sea, affirming that “Tunisia’s stability is crucial for the entire region and is a priority on our agenda.”
