Revenues from olive oil have surged by nearly 80% to reach 4.3 billion dinars by the end of June 2024 (2023-2024 season), according to a press release issued Thursday by the National Oil Office (ONH).
The ONH highlighted that since the start of the season on November 1, 2023, Tunisia has exported approximately 165,205 tonnes of olive oil. This includes 20,392 tonnes of packaged olive oil, generating 590 million dinars (MD) in revenue.
On average, the price of a tonne of bulk olive oil exported to international markets was around 26,584 dinars. In comparison, the price of a packaged tonne sold internationally was 29,956 dinars.
In the 2022-2023 season, Tunisia exported nearly 150,827 tonnes of bulk olive oil, worth 2.4 billion dinars, with an average export price of about 16,181 dinars per tonne. The exported quantities of packaged olive oil during the same season reached 15,489 tonnes, yielding revenues of nearly 320 MD.
