The Tunisian Government stated that the Head of Government, Najla Bouden Ramadan had a phone conversation yesterday, March 01, 2023, with the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

This call dealt with a number of issues of common interest and further advancing and developing Italian investments in Tunisia, the most important of which is renewable energies, in particular the electrical interconnection project between Tunisia and Italy (ELMED).

On this occasion, the Head of Government stressed the long-standing Tunisian-Italian relations, expressing her hope for their further development, and for opening broader horizons for cooperation in all fields.

For her part, the Italian Prime Minister affirmed her support for Tunisia in implementing the program of economic and social reforms and supporting it in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The two sides also touched on the issue of migration in all its forms, especially circular migration, with an emphasis on the need to develop a strategy for this purpose.
