Tunisia is currently taking part in the Seafood Expo Global 2024 held in Barcelona, Spain.

The event, spanning three days and kicking off on Wednesday, serves as a platform for Tunisian exhibitors to showcase a diverse array of fishery products while staying updated on the latest technological advancements in production, processing, and marketing. Organized by the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency, this participation reflects Tunisia's commitment to the seafood industry's growth and development.

The expo hosts over 1,550 exhibitors from 80 nations, drawing an annual crowd of approximately 30,000 visitors from around the world. The Tunisian contingent occupies a sizable 2,200 square meters, featuring displays from six companies presenting fresh, frozen, and canned seafood, along with aquaculture products.

Tunisia has seen a steady increase in its national production, averaging nearly 130,000 tonnes over the past five years. Private investments in fisheries and aquaculture have amounted to TND 67 million, with TND 40 million allocated to fisheries and TND 27 million to aquaculture. Notably, exports during this period reached TND 600 million, showing promising growth, with figures reaching TND 845 million in 2023 alone.
