Tunisian Minister of Interior Kamal Feki participated today, Thursday, May 2, 2024, in the Italian capital, Rome, in a high-level international coordination meeting with his counterparts from the ministries of interior in Italy, Algeria, and Libya, in the presence of high-level delegations from the mentioned countries, to discuss mutual cooperation regarding issues related to irregular migration and border security, according to a statement by the Tunisian Interior Ministry.
The meeting aims to unify perspectives and adopt a comprehensive approach to combat the phenomenon of irregular migration, with the participation of source, transit, and destination countries, and to outline broad lines for combating this phenomenon.
This meeting also provided a space for consultation and coordination to exchange views on related issues, allowing for a common understanding of operational mechanisms for cooperation, added the same source.
The meeting was attended by Matteo Piantedosi, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Italy, Ibrahim Murad, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning of Algeria, and Emad Mustafa Trabelsi, Minister of Interior appointed by the Government of National Unity of Libya.
