
Tunisian FM met with the Ambassadors of Iran, Romania and Austria
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, held a series of diplomatic meetings on Monday, September 16, 2024, welcoming ambassadors from Iran, Romania, and Austria.
These meetings underscored Tunisia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its international relations and fostering cooperation with diverse countries, stated the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
The Minister first received Mir Massoud Hosseinian, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tunisia, who delivered a personal letter from Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In the letter, Mr. Araqchi extended his congratulations to Mr. Nafti on his new role and expressed best wishes for his success. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of the fraternal ties between Tunisia and Iran.
They discussed mutual interest in strengthening various aspects of bilateral cooperation to benefit both nations and their people.
Following this, the Tunisian Foreign Minister met with Valentin-Ciprian Muntean, the Ambassador of Romania to Tunisia, who also presented his congratulations on the Minister’s appointment.
The discussion revolved around the strong relationship between Tunisia and Romania, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to further consolidating their bilateral relations, especially within the framework of the European Union.
The upcoming session of the Tunisian-Romanian Joint Commission, set to be held in Tunis, was highlighted as a significant opportunity to enhance cooperation.
In a display of solidarity, the Minister extended condolences to the Romanian government and people in light of the human and material losses caused by floods following Storm Boris.
In his final meeting of the day, Mr. Nafti welcomed Stephan Vavrik, who presented his credentials as Austria’s new Ambassador to Tunisia.
The Minister congratulated Ambassador Vavrik and assured him of Tunisia’s full support in facilitating his mission. The meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss the longstanding relations between Tunisia and Austria, both at a bilateral level and within the framework of the European Union.
Next year’s commemoration of 300 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be marked by the publication of a book celebrating this milestone, signaling the enduring strength of their friendship.
