Registration Open Now for the 2026 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery
Registration is free.
The deadline for registering is Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Tunis, October 10, 2024 – U.S. Embassy Tunis is pleased to announce that the registration period for the 2026 Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Lottery is open now until November 5, 2024. The DV Lottery program allows all citizens of Tunisia, who have completed high school or work in a profession that requires specialized training, to register for a chance to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa. Registration is free. Individuals selected through the 2026 DV season must apply for and receive their immigrant visa by September 30, 2025. The online registration period for the 2026 DV Lottery closes on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5).
The DV Lottery program makes available each year up to 55,000 U.S. immigrant visas worldwide for randomly selected applicants, who meet strict eligibility requirements. The program aims to diversify the immigrant population of the United States, selecting applicants from countries with low levels of immigration to the U.S.
There is NO fee to register for the DV Lottery, and the U.S. Department of State only accepts registrations online via the Department’s webpage: https://dvprogram.state.gov. Instructions for registering for the DV Lottery are available on the Embassy’s website at: https://tn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/diversity-visa/ and at the Department of State’s webpage at: travel.state.gov/dv.
The U.S. Department of State strongly recommends that applicants complete their registration themselves since false or incorrect information could result in a disqualification from the program. Beware of anyone who charges a fee to help you register.
All DV Lottery entrants must print and retain their online confirmation page after completing their DV registration until at least September 30, 2026. Beginning May 4, 2025, registrants will be able to use their unique confirmation number provided at registration to check the online Entrant Status Check at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ to see if their entry was selected. The confirmation number is the only way to check whether an entry has been selected. If selected, the entrant will also need their confirmation number to obtain visa application and appointment information. The unique confirmation number helps to protect DV entrants against fraud, malfeasance, and problems with the mail.
Unscrupulous visa facilitators have been known to offer to assist entrants with their entries, retain the confirmation number, and then demand more money or illegal activities in exchange for the confirmation number. To prevent fraud, entrants should ensure they receive and keep the unique confirmation number at the time of entry or by completing the entry themselves. The U.S. Department of State never makes DV selection or interview scheduling notifications by mail, email, or phone.
U.S. law allows only one primary entry per person during the registration period. Submission of more than one primary entry for a person will disqualify all entries for that person. Spouses may both enter as primary entrants and list each other as eligible family members.
Important note: Being selected for the 2026 DV Program makes individuals eligible to apply for a visa, but it does NOT guarantee an interview or a visa. Registering for the DV lottery is free but if your entry is selected, you must pay the visa fee as part of your scheduled appointment. The U.S. government will never ask you to send payment in advance by check, money order, or wire transfer.
