31 Algerian fire trucks and 85 fireman have arrived this morning, July 20, 2022, at the border crossing in Melloula, Tabarka. The trucks left in the direction of the capital to participate in the process of extinguishing the fire in the mountain of Boukernine, and to support the efforts of the Civil Protection, the National Army and forests to control the fire that erupted since yesterday evening.
This Algerian support comes by order of the Algerian President, Abdelmajid Tebboune, following a request from the Tunisian President, Kais Saied.
In addition, the official spokesman of the Tunisian Government, Nasreddine Al-Nassibi said, today, that the fire of the mountain of Boukernine has been controlled by 90%, and that the fire in the neighbouring affected areas has been extinguished as well.
The same source added that the Air Forces will carry out the flights to extinguish the remaining fires at the top of the mountain, and the vigilant operations are continuing in order to avoid any re-starting of the fire.
