The price of gold has reached a new historic high today, Friday, as the global price of an ounce of gold surged during trading to exceed $2,523 per ounce (31.10 grams), according to trading data.
The New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) reported that gold prices hit their highest recorded level amid a decline in the U.S. dollar against major currencies. The value of gold reached over $2,523 per ounce, marking a significant milestone in the market.
As for other precious metals, the value of silver decreased in spot trading by 0.7%, reaching $28.20 per ounce. Meanwhile, platinum prices saw a 0.3% increase, rising to $955.35 per ounce.
This follows a 4% rise yesterday, Thursday, which marked its highest level in two weeks. On the other hand, palladium experienced a slight drop of 0.4%, bringing its price down to $940.36 per ounce.
