The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that the Minister Othman Jerandi, met, on Thursday, October 13, 2022, the new Italian ambassador, Fabrizio Saggio, who gave him, on this occasion, a copy of his credentials.
According to a statement by the ministry, Jerandi hailed during this meeting the strong ties of friendship that unite the two countries, reiterating Tunisia's full readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Italy and promote consultation and coordination on bilateral and regional issues of cbilateraommon interest, such as the food and energy crisis and the phenomenon of irregular immigration, based on a comprehensive approach based on solidarity, integration and shared interests.
For his part, the new Italian Ambassador expressed his determination to work to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields and sectors, welcoming the privileged relations between Tunisia and Italy and stressing the importance of working together to face the challenges posed through regular and continuous bilateral meetings.
The Italian diplomat reaffirmed his country's commitment to stand by Tunisia in order to support its efforts to restore the pace of economic growth during the post-COVID-19 crisis period.
On another level, both sides exchanged views on the current main international issues.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed Tunisia's commitment to the constants of its foreign policy, based on respect for international legality, the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter and the settlement of disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.
