Reopening of Bardo National Museum on September 14

The Bardo National Museum, which has been closed since July 25, 2021, will reopen on September 14, with opening hours from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced in a statement yesterday Monday.

The Tunisian Ministry said that "new spaces have been created in the Bardo National Museum where archaeological and artistic artefacts, including mosaic paintings and marble sculptures, will be displayed for the first time after their restoration and maintenance".

Founded on May 7, 1888, the Bardo National Museum is one of the most important and prestigious museums in the Mediterranean and the second largest in Africa after the Cairo Museum.

The museum houses an extensive collection of Roman mosaics, considered the most prestigious in the world, as well as Hellenistic bronze and marble objects from underwater excavations off the coast of Mahdia in the early 20th century.
