The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that the Minister, Mr. Othman Jerandi participated on Sunday January 22, 2023, in the consultation meeting of Arab Ministers of Foreign Affairs held in Tripoli, Libya, at the invitation of his Libyan counterpart Mrs. Najla Mangoush who headed the 158th session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level.
At the opening, the Minister Mrs. Najla Mangoush delivered a speech in which she highlighted that this consultative meeting falls within the framework of coordination on Arab issues and aspirations, and the imposition of intensified consultation and exchange of views, in light of the challenges ahead that require collective solutions to confront them within a framework of solidarity and unity.
For his part, the Tunisian Minister stressed the importance of Arab meetings and consultations that would reinforce communication and defense of just Arab causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, in a manner that establishes effective and lasting Arab solidarity in light of the international transformations.
He also stressed the position of Tunisia in support of Libya, which was expressed by the President of the Republic on many occasions, calling for the solution, Libya-Libya, to be based on the Libyans owning the sovereignty of their decisions and in accordance with their priorities, in a way that guarantees the achievement of security and stability in this brotherly country.
The heads of the delegations of the participating countries stressed the importance of coordination and consultation between the various Arab countries.
The meeting was an occasion to listen to the briefings of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission in Libya, which included calls for various Libyan parties for dialogue and consensus to get Libya out of this crisis, restore its pivotal role in the region and maintain security and peace in it. Going to free and fair elections paves the way for the establishment of permanent legal and constitutional institutions that guarantee security and stability for Libya and the entire region.
