The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries stated that the Minister, Abdel Moneem Belaati, received today, Tuesday, May 17, 2023, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Tunisia, François Dumont.

The meeting was an occasion to discuss ways to enhance the cooperation relations between the two countries in the agricultural sector.

The minister highlighted the fundamental challenges of the agricultural field, which are embodied in supporting the resilience of small farmers and preserving the sustainability of the sector in light of climate changes, in addition to encouraging young people to invest in the agricultural sector and developing the contribution of agriculture to the country's gross domestic product.

He also affirmed his keenness on the principle of transparency, good follow-up and evaluation of international cooperation projects, and work to add more efficiency in their implementation in order to achieve the goals set for them.

For his part, the Belgian ambassador expressed his country and the European Union's readiness to further strengthen cooperation relations with Tunisia in the agricultural sector and in other fields, according to the directions it chooses.
