The preparations for the Joint Tunisian-Cameroonian Committee scheduled for 2023 were at heart of a meeting on Friday, October 7, 2022, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi and the Ambassador of Cameroon in Tunis, Victor Loe.Tunisia
The two sides laid emphasis on the need to present concrete cooperation proposals to be examined during this bilateral meeting in order to revamp relations between the two countries in various fields, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Affairs Ministry
The Cameroonian diplomat handed over to the Foreign Minister a written message from his counterpart, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, in which he expressed thanks for the hospitality he had received during his participation in the 8th edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Tunis. He underlined the importance of these meetings and the cooperation opportunities they offer.
The ambassador also praised the solidity of relations binding Cameroon and Tunisia, pointing out the privileged status accorded to the Tunisian community in his country.
From his part, the Tunisian Minister underlined the consideration paid to the sub-Saharan community established in Tunisia, indicating in this regard, that Tunisia offers a large number of scholarships to students from sub-Saharan Africa.
At the economic level, the two officials stressed the need to enhance coordination between the two countries to make the most of available economic opportunities, notably in the fields of promising and high value-added sectors in order to open up wider investment prospects for the two countries' businessmen.
