This evening, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that Tunisia condemns the fact that Swedish extremists burnt copies of the Holy Quran in the Kingdom of Sweden, in a flagrant provocation to the feelings of Muslims all over the world.
Tunisia asserts that this heinous act is not related in any way to freedom of expression, but rather an assault on the common universal principles and values of human rights and an incitement to violence, hatred and contempt for religions.
While Tunisia warns of the seriousness of these practices, it calls for concerted efforts to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence between religions, and respect for the sanctities of peoples and divine books.
