The Presidency of the Republic of Tunisia stated the President, Kais Saïed, had a meeting yesterday, Tuesday, at the Palace of Carthage, with the President of the Parliamentary Group of the European People's Party in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber.

The meeting focused on the strategic partnership and close cooperation between Tunisia and the European Union in various fields, as well as the need to increase investment opportunities in Tunisia.

The Tunisian President insisted on the need to adopt a common approach to address the issue of irregular migration. An approach based on uprooting the causes of irregular migration rather than dealing with the consequences, said  the Presidency of the Republic.

President Saied also reiterated the need to "fight against the criminal networks involved in the trafficking of human beings in the North and South of the Mediterranean," the same source added.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar.
