The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad stated that the Minister Nabil Ammar had this morning, October 26, 2023, on his request, a phone conversation with the Secretary General of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) Louise Mushikiwabo.

This phone call mainly dealt with the bombardments of Gaza and the necessity to bring it, immediately, to a halt, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.

Minister Ammar, and as President of the Ministerial Conference of the French speaking countries, stressed that Tunisia, as a founding member of the OIF, and in line with the fundamental values of the “Francophonie” could not remain silent with regards to such a horrendous situation.

This phone conversation took place particularly in view of the upcoming Ministerial Conference of the French speaking countries, due to be convened on November 4-5, 2023. in Yaoundé, Cameroon under the Tunisian presidency.

The two officials agreed on the urgency to act promptly for the implementation, as recommended by the OIF, of common values, which have to prevail all over the world and that includes the respect of human life and coexistence.
