Tunisia, Russia: Discussing Bilateral Relations & Cooperation

On the occasion of his participation in the 2nd Russia -Africa Summit, on July 27 and 28, 2023, in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, participated in a working lunch organized by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, in honor of the heads of African delegations participating in the Economic and Humanitarian Forum held in Saint Petersburg yesterday, July 27, 2023, the Tunisian Foreign Ministry stated.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, exchanged with his Russian counterpart views about the advancement of bilateral relations and the intensification of cooperation in all fields through restoring the pattern of high-level visits, and working to organize the eighth session of the Intergovernmental Committee as soon as possible. The Minister also spoke about the possibility of importing Russian grains and fertilizers in these difficult circumstances under the best conditions.

Upon his intervention during the luncheon, the Minister stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and supporting and ensuring equality between them, referring to joint work without exclusion in order to support human relations and find new approaches and mechanisms, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad.

It is noteworthy that Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed, during his intervention at the opening of the forum, Russia's determination to intensify its cooperation with African countries, especially in the field of agriculture and the provision of foodstuffs within the framework of humanitarian aid and assistance.
