During its presidency of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, Tunisia will seek to put into action its vision of finding peaceful, just and lasting solutions to various African issues for a safe, stable and prosperous African continent.
Being proud of its African belonging, Tunisia has always placed the continent's development and security at the forefront of its priorities, according to the same statement.
On this occasion, Tunisia also renews its commitment to continue working on meeting the objectives of the African Union Agenda 2063 and to strengthen the brotherhood ties and solidarity among the peoples of the continent as well as with the different peoples of the world.
In this context, and during its presidency of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, Tunisia will act as a force of positive recommendation to support the security and stability in the continent based on the principles of African solidarity and complementarity which the founding fathers of the Organization of African Unity/African Union had called for. Tunisia, which has always been keen to consolidate sustainable peace in our continent not only by working on addressing tensions but also by supporting tools of prevention to their deep causes, looks forward to working with the brotherly African countries to advance political settlement and reconciliation efforts in a spirit of consensus and understanding that has always characterized the Council's work.
In the same statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad added that Tunisia, which represented well the African countries during its membership in the UN Security Council for the period 2020-2021, mainly through raising the voice of the African continent and defending the interests of its countries, is determined to fulfill its commitments towards the African continent in the fields of peace and security during its membership of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union for the period 2022-2024 in order to strengthen the Council's role and contribute to continental efforts to prevent conflicts, bring peace and foster the pillars of stability in Africa and thoroughly focus on development and construction efforts.
