The Tunisian Minister of National Defense, Imad Memmish, received today, Friday, September 9, 2022, at the ministry headquarters, the Deputy Under Secretary of the U.S. Air Force for International Affairs, Kelli L.Seybolt.

During this meeting, the American official stressed the commitment of the U.S. administration to continue cooperation with the Tunisian military institution “through intensifying joint military exercises and providing technical assistance, materials and equipment appropriate to the threats and challenges facing the region,” according to the Tunisian Ministry of National Defense.

Seybolt praised the strong and privileged historical relations between Tunisia and the United States. These relations "are based on mutual trust and respect, serving the interest of both countries," she pointed out.

In addition, the U.S. official praised the presence of Tunisian women in the ranks of the air force and their perfor3mance of tasks consistent with their military and command qualifications, next to their participation in most operational and peacekeeping missions under the UN umbrella.

The Minister of National Defense said that the United States "is a privileged partner of Tunisia due to the historical relations between the two countries," emphasizing the major support of the U.S.A to Tunisia in the area of training.

He also expressed the wish to see a further development of the military cooperation, especially in building and strengthening the operational capabilities and sharing experiences in areas of common interest.
