The Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs Malek Ezzahi discussed at a meeting on Wednesday in the ministry headquarters with the Chargée d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Tunis Natasha S. Franceschi the progress of the project “All against child labour” (PROTECTE).

The meeting also tackled the prospects of cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the United States Department of Labour in the field of the fight against child labour, the Ministry said in a statement.

Franceschi said the U.S. Department of Labour is ready to support the efforts of the Tunisian Ministry of Social Affairs in combating child labour.

She stressed on the need to strengthen the capacities of the various actors in the field, particularly through sharing experience and expertise and developing new strategies.

From his part, the Tunisian Minister underlined Tunisia's commitment to respect international agreements in the field of child protection, adding that the ministry has developed a legal manual on child labour, as part of its national strategy in this area.
