Tunisia, UAE: Discussing Cooperation for Women's Economic Empowerment

Reviewing ways enabling the joint organization of a conference on women's leadership by Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, with the aim of creating opportunities for the marketing of products made by Tunisian women entrepreneurs, was at the focus of a meeting, held today, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), between the Tunisian Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly, Amel Belhaj Moussa and Emirati Minister of State Maitha Bint Salem Al Shamsi.

In a statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly, the two sides discussed opportunities to boost cooperation in areas related to women's economic empowerment, promotion of female leadership, consolidating partnership opportunities, sharing expertise and experiences as well as increasing networking for women entrepreneurs from both countries.

This meeting, held on the sidelines of the international conference on “Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment”, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from November 6 to 8 made it possible to discuss preparations for Tunisia's participation in the 2023 Dubai Conference on Climate Change (COP28), which will take place from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

The minister underlined Tunisia's pioneering role in the field of women's rights and the major importance it gives to the family as a pillar guaranteeing the development of society, reviewing the strategies and programs implemented by the Ministry for the economic empowerment of disadvantaged women and families and children and elderly people without family support, according to the same source.
