The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fishing stated that the Minister, Abdel Moneem Belaati, received yesterday, Thursday, at the headquarters of the Ministry, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Tunisia, Helen Winterton, and her accompanying delegation.
The meeting touched on various aspects of cooperation in the agricultural field between the two countries, especially with regard to facilitating trade exchanges of agricultural products.
By the way, the Tunisian Minister stressed the extent of the impact of climate change on Tunisian agriculture as a result of rainfall retention, highlighting the Ministry’s intention to focus on seawater desalination plants to provide drinking water as a top priority and working to enhance the uses of treated wastewater in irrigation.
He also stressed that the Ministry is working to develop Tunisian exports of Olive oil and dates, stated the Tunisian Ministry.
For her part, the British Ambassador to Tunisia expressed her country's readiness to raise the level of joint cooperation in the agricultural sector and work to enhance exports of Tunisian products, especially olive oil, to the United Kingdom as soon as possible.
