The Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs stated that the Minister, Hayet Guettat Guermazi, received yesterday Tuesday at the headquarters of the ministry, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Joey Hood.
This meeting was an occasion to discuss joint projects between Tunisia and the United States in the field of heritage conservation and enhancement.
The Minister underlined the importance of further discussions and exchange of views between Tunisian experts and their US counterparts involved in various joint heritage projects.
These projects include heritage conservation and protection mechanisms, such as the restoration of the archaeological amphitheater at El Djem under the auspices of the National Heritage Institute, and the maintenance of musical instruments at the Ennejma Ezzahra ("Star of Venus") in Sidi Bou Said. Both projects are supported by the US Ambassadors Fund, stated the Ministry.
She also stressed the importance of adopting well-structured action plans that meet the deadlines set out in the cooperation agreements between the two countries.
The meeting also explored alternative solutions to overcome obstacles in the implementation of some of these projects.
The two sides discussed the prospects for further cooperation in the field of knowledge exchange and the development of specific Tunisian expertise in restoration, maintenance and valorization, according to the same source.
