Tunisian and Italian Ministers of Interior discuss progress of cooperation projects

The progress of ongoing joint projects between the Interior Ministries of Tunisia and Italy, particularly in the fight against "irregular migration" and "organised crime", was discussed during a meeting between Tunisian Interior Minister Kamel Feki and his Italian counterpart Matteo Piantedosi in Tunis on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Tunisian Ministry of Interior.

The Italian Minister, who is visiting Tunisia as part of a high-level delegation accompanying Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, said the cooperation between the two countries' interior ministries is a good example of the level of European bilateral relations, added the Interior Ministry.

For his part, the Tunisian Minister stressed the Ministry of Interior's keenness to protect Tunisia's land and sea borders by using all available means and applying the law in full respect of human rights principles.

He reiterated Tunisia's firm refusal to be a settlement or transit point for irregular migrants.

At the end of the meeting, they agreed to continue strengthening cooperation between the two ministries and to move forward on the path of consolidating bilateral relations and bringing them to the highest level, reflecting the depth of the historical relations between the two countries and serving the interests of the two peoples.
