The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad stated that yesterday, Tuesday, December 6, 2022,  the Minister Othman Jerandi received, at the ministry headquarters, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily.

The UN official is paying a working visit to Tunisia to attend Wednesday a Security Working Group meeting for Libya.

Security developments in Libya since September were at the heart of this meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry.

The UN official said there is need to find an urgent political solution to this crisis in Libya, one which is based on understanding between all Libyan stakeholders.

The aim is to establish stability and peace in Libya and move towards the organization as soon as possible of long-awaited elections.

Jerandi reiterated Tunisia's support for the Libyan people's choices and said it is ready to support the UN efforts so as to reach a solution that ensures national reconciliation in Libya.
