Tunisian FM took part in the 20th Session of the UNIDO General Conference

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad state that the Minister Nabil Ammar took part in the high-level segment of the 20th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Austria, from November 27 to December 1, 2023.

In his speech addressed, through a prerecorded video, to representatives of member states, including Heads of States and Governments, Foreign Affairs Ministers, and high-level UN officials, the Minister emphasized Tunisia's commitment to continuing cooperation to achieve the goals of UNIDO, convinced of its fundamental role in establishing a more balanced and just international system that enhances peace and security in the world.

The Minister highlighted the cooperation projects with the organization, aiming at strengthening economic and social development through job creation, raising income levels, developing infrastructure, supporting competitiveness of local products, technology transfer, promotion of smart industries, innovation, green economy and renewable energy, while preserving a healthy and sustainable environment, according to the same source.

On this occasion, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Director-General and the Secretariat of UNIDO, as well as all member states, for their cooperation that contributed to Tunisia's success as Chair of the 19th session of the UNIDO General Conference from 2021 to 2023.

The Minister highlighted that, while the conference is held under the slogan of seeking a fair globalization where humanity thrives in prosperity, development and well-being, over two million Palestinian citizens in occupied Gaza, half of whom are women and children, suffer under a brutal Zionist aggression that deprives infants, children, sick and elderly people of the most basic elements of human life, destroying their homes, schools, places of worship, and even hospitals.

He stressed that the war crimes and genocide committed by the occupying entity in Palestine represent a blatant violation of all international treaties and principles of international and humanitarian law, , the Ministry added.
