The Tunisian Head of Parliament, Ibrahim Bouderbala, had a meeting yesterday, Wednesday, with the President of the Algerian Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, durimg which they two sides discussed the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral cooperation and bringing peoples closer together, stated the Tunisian Parliament.
On a working visit to Algiers, Bouderbala underlined the willingness of the Tunisian Parliament to consolidate cooperation with the Council of the Nation through the activation of the parliamentary friendship group, besides stepping up meetings and exchanges of visits and expertise.
He expressed his satisfaction at the level reached by the historic relations of cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
He also added that his visit to Algeria at the head of a parliamentary delegation was an opportunity to examine the prospects for bilateral cooperation and ways to develop it in various sectors of activity.
For his part, the President of the Algerian Council of the Nation reaffirmed the desire to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, stressing the role of parliamentary groups in enriching this cooperation.
He pointed out that the last meeting of the Joint Commission had made it possible to give concrete expression to this common desire through the signing of several agreements covering a number of areas.
Salah Goudjil stressed the need to step up consultations on issues of common interest, pointing out that joint Maghreb action remained a legitimate objective to which bilateral cooperation should be geared.
The two sides then discussed developments in the Occupied Territories, stressing the legitimacy of the just Palestinian cause and the two countries' unconditional support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation, according to the same source.
