Yesterday, the Tunisian Minister of Interior, Kamal Feki, met his Libyan counterpart, Imad Tarabelsi, at Ras Jedir crossing in Ben Guerdane, Medenine Governorate.

During a working session, the two Interior Ministers discussed several common issues related to further supporting bilateral relations, especially the development of the crossing system between the two countries. The focus was on enhancing it to serve the interests of travelers from both sides, according to a statement from the Tunisian Ministry of Interior.

On this occasion, a field inspection was conducted to assess the smoothness of border crossing movements and the speed of border and customs procedures, both from the Tunisian and Libyan sides.

A press conference was also held where the two Ministers confirmed the continuation of bilateral cooperation between the Ministries of Interior of the two brotherly countries. They emphasized their commitment to agreed-upon measures regarding the Ras Jedir border crossing. Particularly, they highlighted cooperation in securing borders, improving infrastructure, and redeveloping the Ras Jedir crossing to facilitate the movement of travelers, especially Tunisians and Libyans, as well as the transport of goods, said the Tunisian Interior Ministry.

The two Ministers also underscored the importance of securing the common borders to combat various forms of crime, especially organized crime, and to address issues like smuggling, irregular migration, human trafficking, and drug trafficking.
