The Tunisian Ministry of Justice stated that the Minister Leila Jeffel received today, Monday, June 26, 2023, at the ministry’s headquarters, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Tunisia, Joey Hood.

Cooperation relations between Tunisia and the United States and ways to strengthen them were the focus of this meeting.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to examine the progress made in implementing a number of cooperation projects between the two countries, according to the Ministry of Justice.

Both sides stressed the importance of the project to digitize the justice system in Tunisia, given that this is one of the ministry's priorities.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the Ministry's 2023-2025 strategic plan, including projects to support gender equality in the judicial sector and to consolidate the position of women within the judicial and prison systems.

In this context, the Tunisian Minister emphasized that the strategic plan drawn up in 2022 is based on a new vision aimed at bringing about reforms in the justice sector.

According to her, the aim of this vision is to establish a modern justice system that guarantees rights and freedoms and enshrines the principles of good governance.

The two parties agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation as part of the program to reform the judicial system in Tunisia.
