Tunisian President had a meeting with the Iranian President in Algiers

On the margins of his participation in the 7th Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum held on Algiers, Tunisian President, Kais Saied, had a meeting, today afternoon, with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, according to a statement by the Tunisian Presidency.

During this meeting, the Tunisian President expressed his country’s readiness to enhance the strong bonds of brotherhood and cooperation with Iran, and its aspirations for these relations to develop in the future in several areas, particularly in the economic and commercial fields, exploring opportunities for exchange and partnership, as well as continuing to enhance the framework of consultation and coordination, and intensifying the pace of high-level visits in the service of the common interests of the two peoples.

The Tunisian president also reiterated Tunisia’s steadfast position on the Palestinian issue and its standing by the side of the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, the Iranian President affirmed that his country has a genuine desire to develop its relations with Tunisia and exchange experiences in several sectors, in addition to developing economic and trade relations, in order to meet the aspirations of Tunisian and Iranian peoples.

He also invited his Tunisian Counterpart to visit Tehran, and in return, the Tunisian President invited his Iranian Counterpart to visit Tunis.
