A working session was held today, February 29, 2024, in Paris, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar and the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Stéphane Séjourné, on the occasion of the working visit of the Tunisian Head of Government to France, according to a statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry.
The two Ministers reiterated their common willingness to consolidate the longstanding relations of friendship and cooperation between Tunisia and France, and to inject a new dynamic into the bilateral strategic partnership, in particular through the resumption of high-level visits as well as the realization of bilateral events, the Ministry added.
The emphasis was also placed on the need to meet all the conditions to take advantage of the important economic potential between the two countries, as well as trade and investment relations.
The two sides underlined their commitment to the consolidation of bilateral relations and consultation. They agreed on the importance, for both partners, of Tunisia's rapid economic recovery and the completion of the reforms initiated by the Tunisian Government. Minister Ammar reiterated the priority given to better cooperation on Stolen Property and their restitution.
The two Ministers recalled the success of the last Francophonie Summit, held in Djerba in November 2022, while stressing their commitment to increased cooperation in the Francophone space.
The meeting was also an opportunity to review all the regional and international issues of common interest, and where the Tunisian Foreign Minister recalled the constant and principled position of defense of the just Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, calling for the urgency of deploying all efforts for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza with urgent access to humanitarian aid.
At the end of this meeting, the Tunisian Minister invited his French counterpart to pay a visit to Tunisia in the near future, in order to continue these discussions and this dynamic of consolidating bilateral bonds.
