Russia suspends electricity supply to Finland
Today, Saturday, May 14, 2022, the Finnish electricity operator announced that Russia has cut off electricity supply to Finland.
Russian state firm RAO Nordic confirmed that it will cut off all exports of electricity to Finland early Saturday, justifying the decision with problems related to the payment of its financial dues.
The Russian company said it has had difficulty receiving payments for the electricity it sells due to sanctions.
This came one day after the Finnish President announced his support for his country's application to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
