7.1-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southern Japan, Triggers Tsunami Advisory
A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of southern Japan on Thursday, leading to a tsunami advisory.
The quake, centered off Kyushu island, caused tremors strongest in Miyazaki prefecture. Tsunami waves of up to 50 centimeters were recorded along Kyushu's coast and the nearby island of Shikoku.
