The employees of 159 public institutions are carrying out a general strike today, Thursday, June 16, 2022, while securing the minimum services,.

Their demands consist of the  withdrawal of Circular No. 20 issued on December 9, 2021, the implementation of a number of signed agreements and in order to defend economic and social rights.

Last Monday, the meeting between the government and the union parties did not result in any agreement, while the government spokesman, Nassreddine Nassibi, said that the government is seeking to hold another negotiation session to avoid the implementation of the strike.

Earlier, the General Tunisian Labor Union (UGTT in French) called on yesterday all the workers in public sector to gather in front of the temporary headquarters of the union, in order for the general strike to be implemented and succeeded.
