On the occasion of the celebration by the 32nd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2023, of illustrious Tunisian and Arab historian, sociologist, scholar and philosopher Abderrhamane Ibn Khaldoun, the Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs Hayet Guettat Guermazi represented Tunisia yesterday, Thursday, at these festivities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where she was the lead speaker in two lectures: "Reflections on Ibn Khaldun's philosophy of history" and "How to achieve professionalism in publishing," in the presence of a host of men of culture, intellectuals, academics, researchers and personalities from various Arab countries and from around the world.

The Fair's ‘Focus Personality' this year is the 14th century Arab philosopher Ibn Khaldun, widely regarded as the father of the social sciences. The program will feature sessions and workshops focused on Ibn Khaldun's work and legacy, including discussions of history, philosophy and literature. Speakers will include a variety of critics and academics such as Tunisian historian and archaeologist Dr. Ibrahim Shabouh, known for investigating the works of Ibn Khaldun, philosopher Ahmed Barqawi, and British writer Anthony Satine.

Accompanied by Tunisian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Moez Ben Mime, Hayet Guettat Guermazi visited the "Ibn Khaldun" pavilion at the Fair, which comprises three rooms representing three periods in the life of this unique historical figure and thinker considered to be one of the emblematic figures of Arab civilization.

A memorandum of understanding was signed on May 11, 2023 between the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi on the rehabilitation and conversion of Dar Ibn Khaldun into a museum dedicated to this scholar.
