Tunis is currently hosting the African Lion 2024 joint military exercise, running from April 29 to May 10, which brings together Tunisian and American armed forces.
The exercise involves exercise directors from both sides and a contingent of military executives from Tunisia and the United States.
According to the Tunisian exercise director, the joint military exercise commenced on Monday at the El Aouina military base and aims to enhance the readiness and operational capabilities of the Tunisian army. It encompasses various military drills and training sessions across different military domains, simulating realistic scenarios to prepare for potential threats faced by the armed forces, as outlined in a press release from the National Defense Ministry.
The Tunisian military representative emphasized the institution's efforts to expand the scope of the exercise in collaboration with the American side in the future.
This expansion aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge necessary to address common cross-border threats while emphasizing mutual respect and serving the shared interest of enhancing regional security and combating all forms of threats.
