Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was shot dead by the occupation army
Al-Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was shot in the head and killed while covering an Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin early on Wednesday.
Journalist Ali Al-Samudi, reporter of Al-Quds newspaper, was also wounded by a bullet in the back during the Israeli occupation forces storming the city of Jenin and its camp.
Al-Jazeera news channel said that the 51-year-old reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was wearing a press jacket while she was shot.
According to the reports by the Palestinian News Agency, the injured journalist confirmed that he was accompanied by Abu Akleh and a group of journalists in the vicinity of UNRWA schools near Jenin camp.
He also said that everyone was wearing helmets and the journalists’ uniform, and that the occupation troops targeted them directly even though the place they were in was clear to the soldiers. He indicated that there were no confrontations in the area and that their targeting was deliberate.
It is noteworthy that Shireen Abu Akleh was one of the first field reporters for Al-Jazeera, and for a quarter of a century she was covering the news from Palestine.
