In April, the Tunisian Social Observatory reported that 853 Tunisians arrived irregularly on the Italian coast, marking an 18.52% decrease from the previous year.

The observatory, linked to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES), attributed this decline to adverse weather conditions along Tunisian coasts and heightened security measures on land and at sea.

During the same period, Tunisian authorities intercepted 209 crossings, primarily via sea routes (71.21%), and prevented 8,249 irregular migrants, mostly non-Tunisian nationals, from reaching Italy.

Since the start of the year, the total number of intercepted irregular migrants has reached 21,200, while 244 victims and missing persons have been recorded, predominantly non-Tunisian.
