
Covid-19: Tunisia has passed the 6th wave peak
The member of the Scientific Committee for the fight against the Coronavirus, Riadh Daghfous, said on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, that Tunisia is currently experiencing a drop in the indicators of the Covid-19 epidemic, having passed the peak of the 6th wave for nearly 10 days,
In a statement to TAP, Daghfous said that the situation is no longer considered dangerous, adding that the number of infections and deaths from Covid-19 is clearly decreasing.
The Tunisian Ministry of Health recorded 14,323 new infections from July 18 to 24, representing a 32% positivity rate compared to 46.1% the previous week.
Daghfous also said that Tunisia is closely monitoring the vaccination operations against Covid-19 which have proven their effectiveness against new variants.
"The strain that is currently spreading very rapidly in Tunisia is one of the branches of Omicron known as BA5 and BA4," he added.
