
Djerba 2022 Francophonie Summit: varied program and events
Since the last Francophonie Summit held in Yerevan, Armenia on October 11 and 12, 2018, no other Summit could be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Djerba Summit thus marks the beginning of the Tunisian presidency of La Francophonie by Kaïs Saied, the President of the Republic of Tunisia for the next two years, reads a statement published on the website of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).
The 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government members of La Francophonie to be held on November 19 and 20, 2022 is also "an important moment for the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Louise MUSHIKIWABO, who will draw up, for the first time, before the Heads of State and Government, the assessment of her four-year term," adds the same source.
Through the submission of a comprehensive activity report, the Secretary General will report on the transformation actions put in place and the dynamics of change that is taking place since she took office within the Organization in January 2019. She will also present her vision for the future of the OIF and the Francophonie.
Below is the program of major events and side events that will mark the 18th Summit of the Francophonie with the theme "Connectivity in diversity: Digital as a vector of development and solidarity in the Francophone space".

Group photo taking, before the official opening of the Summit,
Solemn opening ceremony of the Summit in the presence of the Heads of State and Government of La Francophonie,
Artistic performance organized by the host country, Tunisia.
Sunday, November 20: Continuation of the work and closing of the 18th Summit of the Francophonie.
Parallel events
In addition to these major events, the Djerba Island will host parallel events with a rich and varied program, including the Francophonie Village (November 13 - 22, 2022) and the Francophonie Economic Forum (November 20 and 21, 2022).
The Francophone Economic Forum (FEF), which will be held at the Palm Beach Djerba hotel on November 20 and 21, 2022 under the theme "For a shared growth in the Francophone space", will be an important step in the establishment of an economic Francophonie, allowing the creation and exchange of links between the Francophone business circles, whether private or public
The Village de la Francophonie, which will take place at the Park Djerba Explore from November 13 to 22, 2022, will be the meeting place of the Francophone culture with a continuous animation during ten days. It will be a place of conviviality, open to the participants of the Summit as well as to the general public, which will highlight the cultural richness and specificities of the French-speaking countries through pavilions representing the traditions and crafts of each country, an artistic stage for various shows, a space for immersive exhibitions, a conference room, an exhibition of calligraphy, a pavilion dedicated to the IOF and its operators as well as a pavilion dedicated to Tunisia.
