Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah group and its allies lost their parliamentary majority in the lebanese election, held in May 15 , according to full legislative results announced by the interior ministry on Tuesday.

The group and its political allies had the support of around 70 out of 128 lawmakers in the outgoing assembly but fell short of the 65 needed to retain a majority following Sunday’s polls.

Many Lebanese blame the entrenched political elite for the country’s economic collapse since 2019 and for failing to take measures to stop it.

It is noteworthy that several political and economic crises ravaged the country leaving it in on the verge of bankruptcy
