Firas Kattoussi Wins Gold in Taekwondo for Tunisia at Paris Olympics

On Friday, August 9, 2024, Firas Kattoussi secured Tunisia's first gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the -80 kg Taekwondo category.

This victory marks Tunisia's third medal at these Games, following a silver won by fencer Fares Ferjani (saber) and a bronze by Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi in Taekwondo (-58 kg).

Kattoussi won the gold after defeating Iran's Mehran Barkhordani in the final match held at the "Grand Palais" in Paris.

This triumph adds to Tunisia's Olympic history, bringing their total medal count to 18 (6 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze).
