Friday May 5: A penumbral Lunar eclipse

The National Institute of Meteorology -Mercredi 3 Mai 2023 - 13:30

The National Institute of Meteorology announced that a penumbral lunar eclipse will take place on Friday, May 5, 2023, when the Earth will position itself between the Sun and the Moon, casting only the outer part of its shadow.

This eclipse, which will last 4 hours and 17 minutes, will be visible in Tunisia and the rest of Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia.

For Tunisia, the eclipse will begin after sunset and the moon will emerge from the earth's penumbra at 20:31 local time.

Unlike total or partial lunar eclipses, a partial lunar eclipse is difficult to see because it is hard to notice the slight changes in the moon's light as it enters the penumbra, the institute said.
