
Interior Minister met with the Director General of Italian Civil Protection
Today, September 13, 2023, the Tunisian Interior Minister Kamal Feki received the Director General of Italian Civil Protection, Fabrizio Curcio, who was accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Fabrizio Saggio, according to a statement by the Ministry of Interior.
The meeting represented an opportunity to review the multiple areas of cooperation between the two countries in the specializations related to the Ministry of Interior, especially those related to the field of competence of the National Office of Civil Protection, such as rescue and response to fires and confronting natural disasters and floods, especially with the negative effects of climate changes that recently swept the Mediterranean region, including earthquakes and hurricanes.
The two parties also agreed to further advance joint cooperation in the field of scientific research and exchange of experiences particularly in anticipating disasters and combating forest fires, and further strengthening joint work in the field of awareness, sensitization and volunteering, stated the Interior Ministry.
The both sides also stressed on the need to update the protocol of understanding on “bilateral cooperation for technical assistance in the field of civil protection and protection from disasters.”
The agreement was signed between the civil protection agencies of the two countries on June 20, 2013, in order to keep pace with climate developments in the Mediterranean region and the world.
