IOM-Tunisia and Czech Republic Sign Pact to Protect Vulnerable Migrants
An agreement was signed on Monday between the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunisia and the Czech Republic to enhance the protection of vulnerable migrants in Tunisia and to promote opportunities for voluntary return to their countries of origin, according to an IOM press release.
IOM-Tunisia announced that the agreement aims to support migrants by providing assistance and protection, including options for voluntary return and reintegration in their home countries.
The IOM is collaborating with the Tunisian government to facilitate the voluntary return of irregular migrants in Tunisia.
In January, the organization arranged humanitarian return flights for 392 migrants to their home countries. Additionally, in May 2024, it organized flights for 161 migrants from Tunisia to Gambia.
All returning migrants will receive specific reintegration support, including medical care, upon their return.
