Islamic Cooperation Summit Concludes: Tunisian Delegation stands for Palestinian rights
The fifteenth Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) concluded in Banjul, Gambia, with 57 Islamic countries participating.
The Tunisian delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, participated in this event.
The summit's final declaration covered various areas of Islamic cooperation, including politics, economics, culture, and the situation of Muslim minorities in non-OIC countries. It also included the "Banjul" declaration and a resolution on the Palestinian issue.
The declaration welcomed a consultative meeting between Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya in Tunis, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in security, stability, and development, particularly in combating terrorism and organized crime.
Additionally, it noted Tunisia's hosting of the tenth session of the OIC halal products exhibition in October 2024, encouraging member states and private sector participation.
The Tunisian delegation reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause but registered reservations regarding references to the "borders of June 4, 1967," the "two-state solution," and "East Jerusalem." Tunisia affirmed its backing for the Palestinian people's rights and advocated for their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
