Meeting about Security Situation in Sfax & Sbeïtla
The security situation in the country, particularly in Sfax and Sbeïtla (Kasserine), took center stage in a meeting held yesterday, Thursday, at the Palace of Kasbah, between the Head of Government, Najla Bouden and Interior Minister Kamel Feki, according to a statement by the Tunisian Government.
The meeting takes place against the backdrop of clashes that have erupted in recent days between local residents and sub-Saharan migrants in Sfax.
On Monday, following the stabbing death of a local resident, three suspects were apprehended, and a judicial investigation was initiated.
In the delegation of Sbeïtla, confrontations broke out between police officers and a group of individuals who, according to the account provided by the Interior Ministry, attacked a security patrol with hunting rifles and stone throwing. One person was fatally shot during the skirmish, while another sustained injuries from shotgun pellets.
