Meloni: "Strengthening partnership with Tunisia is priority for Italy and EU"
"Cooperation with Tunisia has become a priority for Italy and the European Union," said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during her one-day visit today to Tunis.
She expressed her pride in the efforts made by Italy to consolidate this cooperation, which culminated last summer in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership between Tunisia and the EU, enabling the establishment of "fair cooperation with the Mediterranean countries", she said.
The Italian Prime Minister is visiting Tunisia on Wednesday, accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Italian interior minister, the minister of education, universities and research and the deputy minister for foreign affairs and international cooperation.
In a video released by the Presidency of the Republic after a meeting with President Kais Saied at the Carthage Palace, Meloni stressed that her fourth visit to Tunisia in a year reflects the strength of the friendship between herself and President Saied, based on the common interests of the two countries, and demonstrates the solid historical relations between the two countries.
